As a child, Lucy Ward lived in the traditional lifestyle of her Ngarinyin ancestors. Footwalking the Kimberly, she learnt to survive off the land and to respect the customs and beliefs of her forebears. Later she worked on the cattle stations, performing the dangerous and difficult work of mustering and tailing bullocks. Now in her 80s, Lucy has commenced a new chapter in her life, throwing herself into painting with a joy de vivre that has seen her work exhibited to acclaim across the world.
