The Larrakitj poles of the Yolngu artists of Yirrkala sparkle with a
refined elegence and delicate beauty. Shaped from the hollowed-out
trunk of the stringybark tree, they are marked with the ancestral
clan-designs of the Yolngu people. Each poles reflects the complex
Yolngu cosmology, while presenting a profound aesthetic meditation
on life and the universe.
Mossenson Galleries in conjunction with Buku-Larrngay Mulka
(Yirrkala) are very proud to launch Larrakitj Poles from Yirrkala.
The exhibition will be open for viewing from Monday 14 September until Saturday 9 October 2009.
